*MAGICAL MOVEMENT
AGE 2-6 YEARS
(CARETAKER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED)
Dancers with disabilities and neurodiversity access the art of dance through exercises that improve coordination, balance, and confidence. The safe, inclusive environment of Magical Movement fosters social and emotional growth for children, and it provides community for caretakers.
CLASS LENGTH - 30 MINUTES
DANCING TOGETHER I & II
AGE 18- 24 MONTHS, AND 2 YEARS
(CARETAKER PARTICIPATION REQUIRED)
Dancers and their caregivers get their first glimpse of the Ballet studio through Dancing Together. They develop coordination, begin learning artistic expression, and hone classroom skills like taking turns and following directions. Class uses storytelling, colorful props, and music to create excitement for dance and prepare children for independent sessions.
CLASS LENGTH - 30 MINUTES
CREATIVE BALLET I & II
AGE 3-4 YEARS
Independent dancers join their instructor in the studio for age-tailored classical Ballet. They learn beginning positions, terminology, and traveling steps. Dancers express themselves as they handle props, participate with friends, and connect music and movement to stories.

CREATIVE COMBO
AGE 4 YEARS
In an alternating weekly schedule, dancers experience the upbeat styles of tap, jazz, and acro. Creative Combo exposes dancers to a variety of movement, music, and choreography, while drawing on the classic Studio One model of storytelling to inspire creative expression.
Dancers choose their preferred combo: Tap and Jazz, or Jazz and Acro.
TAP AND JAZZ - Tap classes build rhythmic proficiency, and the complementary Jazz curriculum fosters creative expression and coordination.
JAZZ AND ACRO - Acro curriculum promotes control and body awareness. On alternating Jazz weeks, dancers become versed in creative, expressive movement.
CLASS LENGTH - 45 MINUTES
PRIMARY BALLET I
AGE 5-6 YEARS
Dancers mature into their first traditional Ballet class with Primary Ballet I. They participate in a Ballet warm-up, stretches, and center work. This class emphasizes proper technique, terminology, and positions, with a curriculum designed to build dancers’ strength, grace, and confidence. In this class, dancers’ repertoire expands while Studio One continues to nurture their needs for magic and whimsical stories.

PRIMARY COMBO
AGE 5- 6 YEARS
In an alternating weekly schedule, dancers experience the upbeat styles of tap, jazz, and acro. Primary Combo builds on the skills introduced in Creative Combo, where dancers have begun developing rhythmic sensibility and strength. Driven by the magic of storytelling and imaginative play, dancers delight in the challenge of more complex movements.
Dancers choose their preferred combo: Tap and Jazz, or Jazz and Acro.
TAP AND JAZZ - In Tap class, dancers master more complicated rhythms and traveling combinations. Jazz curriculum increases their flexibility and stamina.
JAZZ AND ACRO - Dancers build upper and lower body strength in Acro classes, while Jazz fosters their stage presence.

PRIMARY BALLET II
AGE 7-9 YEARS
At age 7, dancers can experience a traditional, hour-long Ballet class. Barre work becomes an exciting part of the curriculum in Primary Ballet II, building off dancers’ experience with warm-up, stretches, and center work. The session makes time for fun, with games and movement activities designed to promote placement and musicality.

PRIMARY TAP
AGE 7-9 YEARS
Dancers will continue to develop rhythm, style and sound in this level. They are foundationally prepared to work on producing clear tap sounds and to develop speed of movement through musical awareness. They learn about a variety of Tap styles, including Broadway and Rhythm Tap.

PRIMARY JAZZ
AGE 7-9 YEARS
Jazz choreography and improvisation become more challenging in Primary Jazz. Dancers build their coordination, balance, and stamina in class and study musicals and theater production to guide their understanding of stage presence.

PRIMARY LYRICAL
AGE 7-9 YEARS
Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz to inspire dancers’ expressive movement. In this class, dancers learn to connect with music to convey emotion and tell a story. Dancers will increase their flexibility and core strength as they acquire lyrical dance skills.

PRIMARY BALLET III
AGE 9-10 YEARS *TEACHER RECOMMENDATION AND 2 YEARS DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The most ardent dancers continue their education in Primary Ballet III, a traditional Ballet class with more complicated center floor work and conditioning exercises. Dancers adhere to Ballet class etiquette and refine their technique to become stronger and more graceful in their execution and expression. In addition to the prerequisites of two years’ dance experience and a teacher recommendation, Studio One also recommends that Primary Ballet III dancers take an additional weekly technique class.

CHOREOGRAPHY AND PROGRESSIONS
AGE 9-10 YEARS *TEACHER RECOMMENDATION AND 2 YEARS DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Dancers will learn a variety of choreography and traveling progressions with a focus on lyrical, jazz, modern and contemporary disciplines. Dancers will strengthen their memory for choreography while being introduced to new dance styles. Additional weekly technique class strongly recommended.

Self-care in your ballet slippers. Embrace the excitement of dance that children have been experiencing at Studio One. With instruction that’s accessible to experienced and novice dancers alike, adults will learn technical, expressive movements that build strength and increase flexibility. (And they’ll probably make a new friend, too!)
