CANDACE GIBSON

INSTRUCTOR

Candace began taking barre classes to cross-train for long-distance running. She found a workout that was efficient, effective, kind to her joints, incredibly social, and sweetly reminiscent of her youthful dance days. When she began teaching barre in 2015, she knew she'd never return to a desk job -- at least not full-time. She simply loved being back in a studio; what's more, her background in communications translated seamlessly to planning classes and cueing exercises. Candace has witnessed the power of positive movement in her clients' lives and believes that every body (not a typo; her part-time work is writing!) can practice barre. She taught through two pregnancies, and she's aging into an even deeper appreciation of barre's infinite variety and gentle strength-building. Candace also teaches barre in the park and enjoys walking absolutely everywhere. She hopes to see you in her class or chat with you in the lobby while her daughter dances with Ms. Becky!

ELIZABETH CHAILLÉ

ERIN SULLIVAN

Ms. Erin is a dancer and choreographer from Montpelier, Vermont. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old, starting with ballet and tap. Eventually, she found her way into a breaking class and fell in love with the groove and the beat of hip hop. In high school she was a member of her studio’s only audition based, pre-professional, troupe where she honed her skills in all genres of dance. She graduated in 2023 with a bachelors of the arts in dance from the University of Vermont; her college career was primarily focused on the modern/contemporary styles and continuing her education on Hip Hop as a culture. Erin is so excited and grateful for the opportunity to bring Hip Hop to Studio One Dance, and she can’t wait to start grooving with everyone!

MAZARINE HARRIS

INSTRUCTOR

Originally from France, Maz began her ballet journey at the age of 4. What started as a fun activity with friends eventually blossomed into a professional passion. Maz trained pre-professionally with the Ecole Nationale de Danse de Cannes, Boston Ballet School, and Alonzo King LINES Ballet's Training Program. She supplemented her training with summer programs all over the UK and continental Europe. Her rigorous ballet training allowed her to explore and express greater freedom in contemporary repertoire.

Injury unexpectedly ended Maz’s dancing career earlier than she had hoped. She went back to school to study Kinesiology at William & Mary. Alongside her academic study of movement, Maz became a certified GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Trainer, further deepening her understanding and passion for functional movement education.

Maz is profoundly grateful to the teachers and mentors who have guided her along the way; their influence remains significant in her life today and she aspires to make a similar positive difference in the lives of her students at Studio One Dance.
